A study looked at a shallow braided delta in the Ordos Basin. They found that the area's geology was good for forming this type of delta during the Yanchang Formation period. The delta had coarse grains, soft rocks, and many distributary channels. Sedimentation was influenced by tectonic activity and lake level changes. The delta formed as a small plain and large delta front.
