Diverted flow and sediment in Pearl River Delta drastically altered.
The diversion ratios of flow and sediment in the Pearl River Delta have changed significantly since 1993. At Sanshui station, the diversion ratios increased abruptly, with flow exceeding 25% and sediment reaching 16%. An artificial neural network model was used to predict these ratios, showing a flow diversion of over 25% from 1998 to 2000, and sediment diversion of 12% in 1998, 15% in 1999, and 16% in 2000.
