Bamboo Cellulose Breakthrough Unlocks Sustainable Biofuel Potential for Developing Nations
In a study about breaking down bamboo into sugars, researchers found the best way to do it using enzymes. First, they made an acid mixture from bamboo powder. Then, they mixed enzymes in and checked different factors like pH, temperature, and time. The optimal conditions they discovered were: pH 5.5, equal parts of cellulase and xylanase, gentle stirring, 50℃, and 24 hours. By following these steps, they made a lot more sugars compared to regular room temperature methods - about 4.4 times more! This means they found a way to efficiently turn bamboo into useful sugars for different purposes.
