Gas drainage boreholes are crucial for controlling mine gas in underground coal mines. In China, over 150 million meters of boreholes are drilled annually using domestic equipment and rotary drilling. Different types of boreholes are used based on strata level and gas drainage goals, such as roof high level boreholes and boreholes along seams. The paper discusses various drilling machines and techniques for different borehole types. Significant advancements are expected in soft seam drilling and directional drilling within the next two years.
