The sedimentary microfacies of the Chang 6~1 reservoir in Xinzhai area, Ordos Basin were analyzed. The researchers found that the sedimentary type is mainly front-delta deposition in a braided river delta system. Four microfacies types were identified: subaqueous distributary channel, mouth-bar, subaqueous natural barrier, and subaqueous interdistributary embayment. The subaqueous distributary channel was determined to be the primary microfacies and the most beneficial reservoir.
