Increasing nitrogen boosts tobacco nicotine content, impacting quality and yield.
The study looked at how different amounts and methods of nitrogen fertilizer affect the yield and quality of tobacco in a rainy area. They found that higher nitrogen levels can decrease sugar content but increase nicotine levels in tobacco. The way nitrogen is applied doesn't affect how efficiently it's used. The best results were seen with 135 kg/hm2 of nitrogen and a 7:3 ratio of base fertilizer to dressing in Nanxiong tobacco area.
