The researchers studied how Cd pollution affects tobacco leaves by conducting pot experiments. They found that as Cd concentration increased, photosynthetic rate, activity of photosystem II, and other key factors decreased. On the other hand, intercellular CO2 concentration increased. This led to imbalanced chemical components in tobacco leaves and a less pleasant aroma.
