Recycling Membrane Washing Water Boosts Efficiency of Water Treatment Process.
Recycling ultrafiltration membrane washing water can improve the treatment of low temperature and low turbidity water. By reusing the washing water, the process of coagulation and ultrafiltration is enhanced, reducing membrane fouling. The study found that with a reflux ratio of 8%, there was no significant impact on water turbidity and disinfection by-product precursors, but total organic carbon and residual aluminum decreased. The average increase in transmembrane pressure was 56.78% lower with washing water recycle. Hydraulic cleaning efficiency reached 84.18% in a filtration cycle, and the water yield of the ultrafiltration process improved from 89.73% to 97.30%.
