Paper Summary

Land use changes can impact soil erosion and sediment yield in river basins. A study in the Lushi Basin used a model to show that converting forest to farmland increased erosion rates from 1989-1996. This suggests that changes in land use can significantly affect regional soil erosion and sediment yield.
