The researchers studied plant diversity in natural grasslands on the Loess Plateau in Gansu eastern. They identified three types of vegetation based on dominant species and grazing levels. The diversity of plant communities decreased with higher grazing intensity. Altitude and precipitation also affected diversity. Overall, grazing appears to be the main factor influencing plant diversity in the region.
