Riparian Zone Soil Salinity Threatens Ecosystems Along Jinghe River
The study looked at soil salinity in the riparian zone of Jinghe River to understand how to control sand blow by the wind. They measured salt levels in the soil with different vegetation cover and found that the soil was heavily salted. The salt content was highest near the surface and correlated with certain ions like HCO3-, Ca2+, and Mg2+. The dominant salts were K+, Na+, and Cl-. Overall, the soil in the area is classified as saline due to high salt levels.
