They found that international land use planning will focus on practical applications. The theory and methods of land use planning and urban planning are merging. Market economy and administrative models influence land use planning. The planning process will unify rigid and flexible indexes. Environmental impact assessments will be more policy-focused. Future research should prioritize spatial planning and improve the relevance, scientific basis, and practicality of planning.
