Rice straw use in farming increases emissions and reduces crop yield.
The study looked at how adding rice straw to rice fields affects greenhouse gas emissions and grain yield. They found that using less chemical fertilizer and more straw increased methane emissions but decreased nitrous oxide emissions. However, the grain yield was lower with more straw. This means that changing the mix of fertilizer and straw can impact both crop yield and greenhouse gas emissions.
