Drought-resistant soybean seedlings offer hope for sustainable agriculture.
Researchers studied how different types of soybean plants handle drought stress by looking at their physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. They found that under drought conditions, soybean seedlings had shorter plants, less root and leaf growth, and lower chlorophyll levels. However, they also had higher levels of proline and SOD, which help them cope with the stress. Some soybean varieties, like Zheng 92116 and Qi 999-8, showed better resistance to drought during the seedling stage compared to others.
