The study looked at how different types of vegetation affect water flow in small watersheds on the Loess Plateau. They found that natural forests and bench terraces are best for reducing overland flow and storing water. Artificial forests did not help reduce peak flows. Overall, natural vegetation recovery is the most beneficial for soil conservation in the area.
