The Xinyi-Changxing Railway bridge over the Changjiang River needed movable steel truss girders to adjust to water levels. The front 5 spans of the girders can move up and down to ensure smooth train travel. Design features like articulation at the ends were used to minimize height differences on the track. After more than three years of operation, it was found that the design measures taken for the truss girders were safe and effective.
