Revolutionary Aquatic Plants Cleanse Polluted Waters, Exceeding 80% Nutrient Removal Rates
A study tested how well aquatic plants can clean up polluted water. They found that certain underwater and floating plants can remove a lot of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus from the water. Two types of plants, Potamogeton malaianus and Vallisneria natans, were the best at cleaning up the water, with removal rates of over 80%. This shows that these plants can be effective at purifying water contaminated with nutrients.
