New super high-yielding hybrid rice breaks world record for crop yield
In 2001, super high-yielding hybrid rice Teyou 175 and II youming 86 were tested in Yunnan Province, China. They achieved record-breaking yields due to larger panicles and higher biomass production. These hybrid rice varieties had bigger sink sizes, leading to more dry matter accumulation and faster crop growth rates compared to other varieties like Shanyou 63. The results showed that Teyou 175 and II youming 86 had significantly higher yields, breaking world records for rice production in a single season.
