New classification system for flax germplasm resources revolutionizes agricultural practices.
The researchers analyzed 52 different types of flax plants from China and other countries. They used a method called cluster analysis to group the plants based on 14 different traits. The results showed that the flax plants could be divided into 4 main groups. Group 1 had 10 plants, Group 2 had 37 plants with a possible 2 subgroups, Group 3 had 1 plant, and Group 4 had 4 plants. This study helps us understand the different types of flax plants and how they are related to each other.
