Nanguo pears revolutionize fruit industry with unique sugar and acid dynamics!
The study looked at how sugar and acid levels change in Nanguo pears as they grow. They found that sugar levels went up and down, while acid levels went up and then down. In young pears, sorbitol and quinate were the main sugars and acids. In mature pears, fructose, citric acid, and malic acid were the main ones. Fructose made up half of the sugar, while citric acid and malic acid made up three-quarters of the acids. Sucrose was only found in pre-mature pears and increased until harvest. Starch levels went up, stayed the same, and then went down. Before harvest, sugar and acid levels increased quickly. Nanguo pears store sugar in an intermediate way.
