Climate change intensifies runoff in Kaidu river basin, impacting water supply.
The study looked at how climate changes affect the flow of the Kaidu River. They analyzed data from weather and hydrological stations from 1958 to 2007. The results showed that the river's flow has been fairly stable over the past 50 years, with most runoff occurring in the flood season. Summer precipitation was found to be the main factor influencing the river's flow, with increased summer rainfall leading to higher annual runoff. Additionally, rising temperatures in the river basin have caused more ice and snow melting, resulting in increased non-flood flow, especially in the fall.
