Optimizing Nitrogen Application Boosts Maize Yield and Efficiency Significantly.
The study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen affected the growth and yield of a type of spring maize. They found that increasing nitrogen from 0 to 270 kg/hm2 led to taller plants, more leaves, better ear characteristics, and higher yields. However, the nitrogen use efficiency decreased with higher nitrogen levels. The best results were seen with 180 kg/hm2 of nitrogen, which gave the highest yield and nitrogen use efficiency for this type of maize.
