Mapping Forest Soil Fertility Reveals Key Insights for Dongguan's Ecosystem
Researchers used geostatistics and GIS to study the variation of forest soil fertility in Dongguan, Guangdong. They looked at soil organic matter, total nitrogen, total potassium, total phosphorus, and pH levels in the top 25 cm of soil. Results showed medium variation in total phosphorus, total potassium, soil organic matter, and total nitrogen, and weak variation in pH. The spatial correlation was moderate for most factors, except for total nitrogen which had weak correlation. The distribution maps created using ordinary Kriging showed clear differences in soil fertility across the area. These findings can help with forest ecological construction in Dongguan.
