The researchers analyzed changes in cultivated land in Chongqing city over the past decade. They used statistical data and a method called principal component analysis to identify the main factors driving these changes. The results showed that the area of cultivated land in Chongqing decreased with fluctuations. In different time periods, different factors influenced these changes. Initially, population growth was the main driver, but more recently, government policies, population increase, and economic growth have become the primary factors. Natural factors also played a role in the changes. Suggestions were made for better managing cultivated land to ensure sustainability and ecological safety.
