A new maize variety called jinongyu309 was created by using GS04 as the female parent and WH8 as the male parent. It has a higher yield compared to the control variety jidan261, with 7.9% more in regional tests and 8.8% more in production tests. The new variety was approved in 2009 and is known for its stable high yield, resistance to diseases and drought, and good quality. Jinongyu309 is a middle mature variety that can be grown in specific regions of Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces.
