High Nitrogen Pollution Threatens Water Quality in Xiangxi Basin
The study looked at nitrogen pollution in Xiangxi Basin during rainy periods. They monitored water quality and flow in the area. Nitrogen levels in the water rose at the start of rain, peaked with the flow, and then decreased. Non-point sources like agriculture were the main cause of pollution, contributing over 70% of the nitrogen load. Controlling agricultural runoff is crucial to preventing water pollution in the Xiangxi Basin.
