Upward mining in Jike coal mine reduces vertical stress significantly
The study looked at the feasibility of mining upwards in the first mining area of Jike coal mine. By analyzing theories and using numerical simulations, researchers found that the height of the caving zone after mining would be 8.47 meters, with a fracture zone height of 21.1 to 32.4 meters. The M9 coal seam would be in the fracture zone of the M11 coal seam after mining. The simulation results showed that the vertical stress in the M9 coal seam would decrease significantly, with a maximum fracture zone height of 26 meters. This suggests that using the M11 coal seam as the operation layer for the M9 coal seam is a feasible option.
