Long-term fertilization boosts soil health and plant nutrition in black soil.
Long-term fertilization affects different types of humus in black soil. The study divided humus into 6 fractions and found that carbon content varied among them. Applying organic fertilizer with inorganic fertilizer increased carbon content in various humus fractions. Using only inorganic fertilizer decreased soil humification reaction. Combining organic and inorganic fertilizers had the best overall effect on humus fractions in the soil.
