Mining and construction sites in Shenzhen causing significant soil erosion.
The study looked at how different types of land use affect soil erosion in Shenzhen, China. Using GIS and RUSLE, the researchers analyzed factors like rainfall, soil type, and landforms to calculate soil erosion intensity. They found that mining, unused land, and construction sites are most likely to cause soil erosion, while forests, grasslands, and paddy fields help retain soil. Orchards were identified as a significant cause of soil erosion in agricultural areas. Nanshan and Longgang Districts were highlighted as key areas for improving soil and water conservation efforts.
