High-temperature pyrolysis of PVC leads to decreased char yield.
The researchers studied how heating PVC at different temperatures affects the amount of char produced. They also looked at the changes in volatile matter and activation energies during the process. The results showed that higher temperatures led to less char but more volatile matter. The pyrolysis of PVC has two stages with different activation energies: 50 kJ/mol in the first stage and 245 kJ/mol in the second stage.
