The article describes a network-based intrusion detection system that was designed and tested successfully in a simulated environment. The system follows a three-tier distributed structure and aligns with the Common Intrusion Detection Framework. This approach yielded positive results and can serve as a useful reference for designing other intrusion detection systems.
