Floods from Beiluohe River could reshape Weihe River landscape dramatically.
The study looked at how floods from different rivers affect sediment deposition in the Weihe River and Beiluohe River. By analyzing 67 flood events, researchers found that floods from the Beiluohe River caused more sediment deposition near the Tongguan station compared to floods from the Yellow River. Specifically, floods with a combination of Yellow and Beiluohe rivers caused the most deposition, with the Beiluohe River having a significant impact. This suggests that redirecting the Beiluohe River into the Yellow River could help reduce sediment buildup in the lower Weihe River.
