Higher Planting Density Boosts Wheat Yield and Quality, Reducing Protein Content
Planting density affects grain yield and quality of weak-gluten and medium-gluten wheat varieties. Increasing density can boost yield and starch content but lower protein content in weak-gluten wheat. For medium-gluten wheat, higher density increases yield and starch content, with lowest protein content at a specific density. Optimal densities for high yield and quality are different for each variety.
