Seven wetland plants effectively clean sewage, improving water quality nationwide.
The study looked at how to clean up household sewage using a special garden with seven different water-loving plants. They tested different amounts of time the sewage stayed in the garden (1, 3, or 7 days). The best results came from keeping the sewage for 1 day. All plants helped remove pollutants like CODcr, TN, TP, and dirt from the water, but some plants were better at it than others. Typha angustata, Canna chineresisw, Acorus celembls, and Iris pseudacorus were the most effective.
