The researchers investigated sewage quality in Zhejiang Province to improve lab-scale sewage treatment design. They found that the sewage had low organic and phosphorus levels but high nitrogen, making it biodegradable but lacking in denitrification. Sewage quality varied by season, with the highest pollutant concentration in January and lowest in July. The protein concentration was highest in Ningbo city. The optimized synthesis wastewater ratios matched those of actual sewage, suggesting a more accurate lab-scale simulation.
