China's Cultivated Land Shifts North, Impacting Food Security and Environment.
The researchers analyzed changes in China's cultivated land from the 1980s to 2000 using spatial analysis techniques. They found that total cultivated land increased by 28374 km2, mainly in dryland areas. Cultivated land was concentrated in northern and central provinces, with decreases in 19 provinces and increases in 13 provinces. Most cultivated land was in the southeast of Hu Huanyong's line. China's cultivated land was classified into different spatial distribution patterns and types of changes. The study suggests further exploration of cultivated land quality in spatial distribution and level division.
