Organic Acids in Soil May Accelerate Acidification More Than Acid Rain.
Soil was tested to see how different acids affect the loss of aluminum, silicon, and base ions. Acid rain and organic acids were used in the experiment. Results showed that more silicon and base ions were lost with acid rain compared to water. Organic acids like citric acid also caused significant loss of these elements, suggesting they may contribute more to soil acidification than acid rain.
