Safer Coal Mining Practices Discovered for Steep Slopes
The study looked at how pressure behaves in coal mines where the faces are close together and the coal is steeply inclined. They found that the pressure in the middle of the mining face wasn't very high, and it was due to specific factors in the underground rocks. When coal faces are very near each other, the pressure different in the middle compared to the sides. The middle mostly supports the weight above, while the sides take on more changing forces.
