Rural areas at risk: Drinking water quality gap poses health threat.
The study looked at the cleanliness of drinking water in urban and rural areas of Zhenjiang. Water quality from the main water supply company was good, but water from smaller township waterworks had more issues. Problems included cloudy water, high levels of aluminum, low chlorine, too many bacteria, and coliforms. Rural areas had more water quality problems than urban areas. The researchers suggest improving water sources, production methods, and management to make sure drinking water is safe for everyone.
