The Qinshui basin in Shanxi has a lot of coalbed methane resources. The researchers studied the geophysical features, structural changes, and tectonic history of the coalbed methane system in the basin. They found that certain areas in the north and east are good for forming coalbed methane, while the south and middle areas are good for both forming reservoirs and getting high yields of coalbed methane.
