A new late-season hybrid rice called Sanxiangyou 714 was created by combining a high-quality female parent with a new male parent. This hybrid rice has good grain quality, high yield, and is suitable for a wide range of growing conditions. In trials, it yielded 3.77% more than a popular check hybrid. It meets high standards for rice quality set by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture. Sanxiangyou 714 was officially registered and released in 2004.
