Revolutionary Aquatic Plants Boost Sewage Treatment Efficiency in Chongqing Area
A study compared the efficiency of different aquatic plants in treating pollutants in constructed wetlands in Chongqing. Coix lacryma-jobi L and Canna indica were found to be the most effective in removing nitrogen compounds, making them suitable for sewage treatment in the area. Other plants tested showed similar removal rates for COD and phosphorus. Overall, Coix lacryma-jobi L and Canna indica are recommended for use in constructed wetlands for efficient treatment of ammonia and total nitrogen.
