This article summarizes how cities in ancient China changed from the Early Tang Dynasty to the Middle Song Dynasty. The focus was on capital cities, showing how they moved eastward along with economic centers shifting southeast. Southern and northern cities had distinct differences. People in those times had new ideas about urban development.
