A new type of early-maturing rice called Zhe207 was developed by Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and released for farming in Hunan province in 2009. Zhe207 has strong stems, large panicles, good grain quality, high and stable yields, and resistance to lodging and diseases. In trials, Zhe207 yielded 2.28% more than the comparison variety Jinyou402, with a shorter growth duration of 111.8 days in Hunan.
