Soil erosion threatens global food security, productivity, and sustainability.
Soil erosion is a big problem, with 75 billion tons of soil lost each year. Rain and wind are the main culprits, especially on bare land. When soil loses its protective cover, erosion happens. This leads to less productive land, as water, nutrients, and soil depth are lost. The biggest issue is that soil erosion threatens our ability to grow enough food for a growing population.
