Controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer boosts maize yield and soil health.
Different types of nitrogen fertilizers were tested on maize crops to see how they affected yield, soil nitrate levels, and nitrogen use efficiency. The study found that controlled-release compound fertilizer increased yield and nitrogen use efficiency by 55.41%, while sulfur-coated urea fertilizer had the lowest yield and efficiency. Soil nitrate levels increased with nitrogen fertilizer application but decreased as maize grew. Common urea fertilizer had higher residual nitrate levels compared to controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer. Overall, controlled-release compound fertilizer was the most effective in meeting maize growth needs and maximizing nitrogen fertilizer use efficiency.
