Safer, More Efficient Coal Mining Unlocked with Optimized Pillar Width
The researchers optimized the coal pillar width in a medium thick seam with shallow depth to increase coal mining efficiency and safety. By increasing the coal pillar width to 16 meters, they found that gateway and coal pillar stability improved, with reduced deformation and stress. During mining, powered supports only needed 70% of their rated working resistance, ensuring safe and efficient coal extraction.
