A new type of hybrid rice called Zhongzheyou 1 was created by combining two different rice plants. This new rice has good quality grains, produces a high and consistent yield, is moderately resistant to a common rice disease called blast, and can grow well in various conditions. It was officially approved for cultivation in 2004 and is best suited for growing as a single crop in certain regions of China.
