Heilongjiang's unsustainable development revealed: Ecological footprint exceeds capacity, threatening environmental sustainability.
The researchers studied how sustainable the environmental development was in Heilongjiang Province from 2000 to 2007. They used a special model that looks at how much natural resources we use compared to how much the environment can renew. By doing this, they found that in those years, Heilongjiang Province used more resources than it could renew. This means the way the area was developing economically was not good for the environment.
