Intense light boosts tomato quality and photosynthesis in greenhouses.
Heating, ventilating, and adding light in greenhouses can improve tomato growth and quality. Increasing light intensity boosts photosynthesis in tomatoes, but too high temperatures can decrease it. Higher light intensity leads to more chlorophyll and better quality, while higher temperatures increase photosynthesis until 30°C. Stomatal conductance and transpiration increase with temperature and light, affecting CO2 levels. The best conditions for early spring tomatoes in northwestern areas are around 26.6°C and 395 μmol/(m2·s) of light.
